The Children of The "Greatest Generation"

Baby boomers

If you were born between 1946 and 1964 then you are an official baby boomer. Dr. Powell was born in 1951, making him a member of this group. The baby boomers are the children of the “greatest generation.” Dr Powell has spent a large part of his practice career taking care of the skin ailments of our parents, the “greatest generation.” Now, for better or worse, most of our parents are gone and we are the next generation who will be in need of health care as we age. It is important for your health and well being that you establish yourself with a physician you trust and have yourself screened for common diseases such as high blood pressure, colon cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer. I believe it is also important to come in for a skin cancer screening, both to establish a baseline and determine whether you are at high risk. Many of you can then follow up with your family doctor and only see a dermatologist if needed. Others will be at higher risk and should see a dermatologist on a regular basis. In this case, the old adage about an ounce of prevention was never more true.
